Saharan camels could blow through U.S. this week

Nashville, TN - Keep your eyes to the sky this week, Middle Tennessee. According to reports, Saharan dust plumes making their way across the Atlantic Ocean could carry thousands of camels through parts of the U.S. over the next few days.

Experts say there is no reason for concern as the camels are expected to be traveling between 5,000 feet and 20,000 feet high in the atmosphere. Still, health officials encourage anyone with camel allergies to take some extra precautions this week.

"Maybe carry an extra dose of an over-the-counter allergy medicine," said one health specialist. "And it's another great reason to wear your mask."

A hotline is currently being set up to report any camel sightings in the unlikely event a few touch down. That number is expected to be released with further safety information later today.
