Nashville calls on all residents to set out dehumidifiers to help lower heat index

Nashville, TN - Humidity is expected to be at an all-time high in Middle Tennessee over the next few days and Nashville needs your help! The city is calling on all residents to set out their dehumidifiers to help lower the heat index.

"Just one household dehumidifier can lower the heat index by .0001% each hour. While that may seem small by itself, imagine if every Nashvillian did their part," said one official.

The official provided detailed instructions on the proper setup, reminding residents to take safety precautions while in the heat.

"Remember, you will need to empty the dehumidifier tank about every 30 seconds, so be sure to drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen while outside."

The city official also encouraged residents to set out fans to help create a breeze throughout the city.
