New York City, NY - Less than 48 hours after Joe Gatto announced he was leaving the Impractical Jokers, the producers behind the TrueTV staple announced that Joaquin Phoenix will now play Joe Gatto on the hit show.
"We can't think of a better or a more uniquely qualified actor to portray Joe as Joaquin Phoenix," said a spokesperson.
The remaining Jokers, Sal, Murray, and Q, said while they will miss Joe, they are excited to see what Joaquin can bring to the beloved character.
"Joaquin has huge shoes to fill," said Sal. "But he's done it before, and we are confident he'll do it again."
Joaquin Phoenix did not immediately respond to our requests for comment.
