Nashville, TN - When Tennessee Governor Bill Lee invited Tennesseans to vote for the new state license plate, he never expected so much disappointment. But, less than 24 hours after the polls opened, citizens across the Volunteer State are speaking out and demanding a fifth option: A Hot Chicken Plate.
"What better represents our state than a delicious plate of spicy, fried poultry?" said one Tennessean on Facebook. "I want a hot chicken plate."
Another man wrote, "If we're going to have to keep these on our cars for eight years, I want something I can be proud of. I'm writing in a vote for a hot chicken plate. Who's with me?"
A spokesperson at the Governor's office says they have received more than 20,000 calls asking for a hot chicken plate option. The Governor has not yet responded to requests.
License plate activists are organizing a hot chicken plate rally outside the Governor's office this weekend. More details are to follow.
