CA librarian Joe Goldberg vows to bury competition on new season of the Bachelorette

Indian Wells, CA - The Bachelorette Season 18 kicked off on Tuesday, as 30 suitors arrived at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa to win Michelle Young's heart.

One of the early fan-favorites is Joe Goldberg, a 30-year-old librarian from Madre Linda, California.

While the quiet, unassuming bachelor didn't make the flashiest of entrances, he did win Michelle over with his passion and instant devotion.

"Hey, you. I've waited so long to meet you. And I promise from this moment on that I won't let anything or anyone keep me away from you." Goldberg told Michelle.

Michelle told hosts Kaitlyn and Tayshia she was intrigued by Goldberg's confidence and intensity.

"Whoa. He's cute... and kind of mysterious," said Michelle. "I feel like he has some secrets, and I'm definitely excited to find out what they are."

In a later solo interview, Goldberg told producers that he was confident he would be the last man standing, and vowed to bury the competition.

In unrelated news, one of the contestants went missing during the first night's cocktail party. He was last spotted walking into a hotel restroom but never returned. Producers believe he may have lost his nerve and decided to quit the show. His whereabouts are still unknown.

The Bachelorette airs on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. Central.
