Nashville, TN - Local husband, Jeremy Baker, found himself in a bind on Sunday evening when he realized Valentine's Day was Monday. With his wife Kelly on her way home from a business trip, he decided to cover the bed in rose petals.
Unfortunately, Baker found that all the stores were either out of roses or closed by 9:00 p.m. To make matters worse, his wife was due back in less than an hour.
Witnesses inside Kroger say Baker frantically searched through the floral section for flowers. Moments later, he was spotted in the meat aisle, carrying a dozen packs of pepperoni toward the checkout line.
Back at home, Baker reportedly dowsed the hallway in pepperoni from the front door to the bed. Then, he used the remaining cuts of meat to create heart shapes on his wife's favorite cotton bed sheets.
"I hate that I couldn't get rose petals," Baker told reporters. "But I think she'll be very surprised."
It is unclear how Kelly, a vegetarian, reacted to her husband's romantic gesture. She did not respond to our request for comment.
