Nashville, TN - A group of metro teachers is banding together this week in a last-ditch effort to win the lottery before returning to the classroom for the 2019 school year. Some say they are in denial. Others applaud their optimism.
According to sources, a private Facebook group comprised of over a dozen metro teachers has been pooling money to increase their chances of winning a jackpot and presumably resigning from their positions immediately. One teacher, who asked to remain anonymous, told journalists, "Don't get us wrong, we love to teach. We just love not-teaching more. And we are still holding out hope that we can never teach again real soon."
At the time of this publishing, the teachers have two more chances to win the Powerball jackpot and two to win the Mega Millions before the first day of school next week. One teacher, Joanne Berger, posted on the Facebook page, "I just got us 850 tickets for Wednesday's drawing and I'm feeling pretty good about it. It's going to happen! It has to! I can't take another year of this."
Metro Nashville schools start back Monday, August 5.
